18 HOLES - International
International
PAR 72 - 6194 m
Opened in 1970 after 3 years of work by Hawaiian architect Bob E. Baldock, this course, measuring 6184 meters (6777 yards), is a par 72.
It has a slope of 131 (men, white tees, SSS at 73) or 138 (Ladies, yellow tees, SSS at 77.6).
International hole #1
Par 4 - 419 m
This is a Par 4 in a left dog leg that approaches 400 meters, with a rough and the golf workshop to the left and Hole No. 9 on the right coming back towards the entrance. For the tee shot, there are 2 possible options:
-
For the big hitters: There's the possibility to play a draw that clears the turn, leaving only a relatively short flag attack.
-
For a more cautious tee shot: Aim for the middle of the fairway, with a green attack on the 2nd shot where both length and precision will be necessary to hope for par.
Tip:
For the first Hole, don't get carried away and try to "break the course" right off the bat. Play this hole smoothly and securely to maintain confidence for the rest of the 18.
International hole #2
Par 3 - 191 m
It's a relatively long Par 3, protected by two bunkers: one on the left and the other on the right before the green. Completely to the left, there's an out-of-bounds that runs along the rough, and to the right is hole No. 8 coming back.
It's possible to attack the green directly.
Tip:
Lean a bit to the right to avoid the out-of-bounds on the left, and in the worst case, end up in the rough for an approach, or in the bunker if it's short.
International hole #3
Par 5 - 434 m
This is the first of the four par-5s, featuring a fairway that hugs the left side and curves back in a dog leg to the right, finishing straight on the remaining 150 meters. In the middle, there's a rough that takes up all the remaining space, with out of bounds always on the left.
For the big hitters, you can clear the rough zone to reach the fairway on the other side, leaving you with a distance of between 100 and 130 yards to the green.
For the strategic players, you need to follow the fairway and plan on taking 3 shots to reach the green.
A headwind can make the task more challenging.
Advice:
Aside from the rough that could greatly affect ball contact, this hole is quite wide and almost hazard-free. However, it's best to avoid going too far to the left, as that could box you in for a green attack.
International hole #4
Par 4 - 233 m
Par 4 downhill with a green protected by two bunkers and the rough taking up much more space than the fairway.
Tee shot: it will require both precision and distance to avoid the out of bounds on the left in order to reach the fairway or the green.
Tip:
From a psychological standpoint, keep in mind that this is a relatively short Par 4 and that you shouldn't be tempted to go for a direct hit. Instead, play it cool and aim for par.
International hole #5
Par 4 - 360 m
Par 4 with a slight left dog leg, featuring a tee-off over 340 meters defended on the left by a forest and a rather narrow fairway.
The green attack from 100 meters is well defended by a bunker in the line of play. Precision is the key quality needed to perform well on this hole.
Tip:
Lean a bit to the right for the tee shot, then, for the second shot, simply aim to place the ball in the middle of this well-defended green to avoid the hazards.
International hole #6
Par 4 - 396 m
Par 4 dog leg to the left. The out-of-bounds on the left quickly sends you into the trees on the right, which separate from hole No. 5 and run along the hole up to the green. The tee shot is crucial and requires precision. Just like the tee shot, the green attack is far from straightforward. The green is protected by bunkers.
Tip:
A simple 3-wood for the tee shot allows you to stay in the fairway and avoid the out-of-bounds on the left. A green attack with a fade iron shot will secure this 2nd shot.
International hole #7
Par 4 - 422 m
Par 4, a left dog leg hole with a river crossing the hole 20 meters before the green and a beautiful line of trees on the left marking the out of bounds, which encourages a tee shot slightly to the right. For the big hitters, there's a chance to cut over the left trees to reach the fairway and get in front of the frontal water hazard crossing. The green is quite wide for a second shot to land on it, with two putts for par.
Tip:
To avoid the left forest, aim to the right on the tee shot. At worst, you'll be in the right rough but still in play. Don't play for the flag but aim to land on the green without pressure and trust your short game.
International hole #9
Par 5 - 452 m
Precision and power. This is a long par 5 with a green defended by 3 bunkers. To the left is a part of the Tahiti Compact Course, and to the right is hole No. 1. Therefore, after a strong tee shot, another green attack remains. It is accessible in two for the big hitters.
Tip:
Avoid placing the ball at the line of trees that delineate the 1st and 9th holes to the right, as well as the line of trees on the left. Keep your play straight and ensure a solid short game.
International hole #10
Par 4 - 297 m
This hole isn't very long, but the tee shot is complicated by the corridor formed by the water hazard on the right and the practice area on the left. The green is protected by a bunker in front and another behind, requiring precision and composure.
Advice:
Precision is key on this hole. A tee shot with a fairway wood or even an iron secures the second shot and allows for a more effective green attack with a pitch for the hitters.
International hole #11
Par 4 - 367 m
Par 4 with elevated tees and a slight left-to-right dog leg. A headwind can make the hole more challenging. There's thick rough on the left and behind, with a line of trees marking out of bounds. On the right, the same, but with a water hazard in the form of a lake where drives are likely to land.
Tip:
Avoid ending up in the left rough to not get trapped by the left trees, as well as the lake on the right. So, be cautious with your tee shot.
International hole #12
Par 5 - 493 m
This long Par 5 with a right dog leg is crossed at about the first 100 meters by a small dried-up watercourse. A very thick rough on both the left and right makes this tee shot quite stressful.
The green is not very deep, with a bunker protecting in front of the green on both the left and right sides.
Tip:
Tee shot: A fade drive is recommended to avoid hazards, or a smaller wood shot straight ahead before the turn for less experienced players. For those with less power, play the 2nd shot to the middle of the fairway to secure par or set up a good approach for birdie.

International hole #13
Par 4 - 368 m
Tee shot: This long par 4 with a slight left dog leg features a relatively wide and accessible fairway for a confident tee shot. The green is guarded by 2 bunkers in front.
Tip:
Lean to the right on the drive with a slight draw or work on a solid closed iron shot to secure the second shot. Beware of the narrow green and small mounds around the green that add a bit of challenge to the approach.
International hole #14
Par 3 - 197 m
Par 3 Straight enough with two bunkers in front of the green. The green is defended on the right by a small ditch as a water hazard and on the left by out of bounds, though quite far from the green.
Tip:
A tee shot that demands precision and focus, taking into account the narrow and defended green, as well as the tendency of the wind blowing head-on. A low, tight ball with a slight fade to avoid roll would be ideal.
International trou #15
Par 4 - 388 m
A par 4 in a left dog leg with a water hazard in the middle of the fairway shaped like a small lake. For the very big hitters, reaching in one shot is possible, so caution is advised. The green attack remains manageable with careful consideration of the bunkers in front of the green.
Tip:
A drive with a draw on the left side of the fairway can open the doors to a relatively easy green attack and a great performance on this hole... Beware of the rough.
International hole #16
Par 4 - 292 m
This is a relatively short Par 4 but with a narrow fairway and a large tree in the middle of the fairway that complicates the tee shot. The green, lacking depth but wide, defended by 2 bunkers, makes flag positions equally strategic.
Advice:
A high ball flight favors landing on the green. A "passive" strategy in front of the green can also be rewarding. For the big hitters, it is reachable in one.
International hole #17
Par 3 - 196 m
This 196m par 3 requires precision. The ball's landing on the green is well protected by two bunkers in front as well as small mounds around.
Tip:
Maintain a certain rigor one hole from the end. Being clear-headed and patient in score management is crucial at this stage of the course.
International hole #18
Par 5 - 511 m
This final hole, a left dog leg measuring over 510m, will tempt your drive, especially for hitters on the left to carry and cross the lake positioned as a water hazard right in the middle of the turn.
After successfully flying over the watercourse during the green attack, be careful not to be too greedy because an out of bounds, even though quite far from the fairway, can quickly catch you off guard despite the wide play area around the green.
Tip:
Execute a drive with a draw towards the water hazard in the middle for the big hitters, and aim for a middle strategy for those less powerful. And most importantly, maintain your composure for a finish without "adrenaline". You will then end this course on a very high note.
9 HOLES - COMPACT
Compact 9 holes
Par 32 - 1930 m
Our compact course was designed and built in 2008 by Jean-Louis Grégory, who worked with Niklaus Design on the island of Moorea. This par 32 course measures 1930 meters (2110 yards) in length.
Compact hole #1
Par 4 - 290 m
The first hole is a par 4, approximately 260 meters long with a slight left-to-right dog leg. The tee is located next to the golf course's parking lot, and the green is close to the road. This hole has a fairly accessible fairway from the tee shot, protected only by two bunkers located on the left and at the back, between the green and the road. The rough is also very much in play.
For the big hitters: There's the option to play a fade that clears the turn, either to land directly on the green or to set up for a straightforward approach shot. For a more cautious tee shot: aim for the middle of the fairway with a second shot attack on the green where precision will be necessary to hope for a par.
Compact hole #2
Par 4 - 325 m
Following hole 1, the tee-off for the second hole is located a few meters to the right of the green and runs alongside the road. It's a Par 4 dog leg from left to right, quite challenging with a relatively narrow fairway and rough on both sides of the hole. A bunker is placed in the middle of the fairway about a hundred meters from the tee.
Tip:
The tee shot is crucial and requires precision. I would opt for a start with a rather solid iron shot that ensures safety. However, if one has a good drive, the green is playable in one shot, keeping in mind that it is also protected by a bunker on the front left.
Compact hole #3
Par 3 - 160 m
The third hole is a relatively long par 3, I would even say it's the longest par 3 on the compact course, measuring 160 meters in length. It turns back and thus runs alongside hole No. 2.
Conseil :
Compact hole #4
Par 3 - 140 m
Hole No. 4 is a straight 140-meter par 3, protected on the right by two bunkers and on the left by a water hazard running the length of the hole up to the green. It runs alongside hole No. 3.
Tip:
Be cautious with your tee shot on this straightforward hole that appears simple, especially when facing a headwind.
Compact hole #5
Par 5 - 435 m
Hole No. 5 is the only par 5 on the compact course, measuring 435 meters. This hole is heavily guarded by a rough that occupies space on both sides and a narrow fairway with a slight left-to-right dog leg. A bunker is located on the fairway, 280 meters after the tee and just past a frontal water hazard that adds an extra challenge.
And as if that wasn't enough, the green is protected by two bunkers, one in front to the left and the other at the back of the green.
Tip:
Teeing off onto the fairway remains the best option to ensure a good follow-up shot. However, if you're going to miss, I'd advise players to err a bit more on the left to avoid the out of bounds on the right that hugs the rough. The green is reachable in two shots with a good and precise green attack, or in three shots for strategists, ensuring a nice approach for birdie. It's worth noting that the par 5 is a good opportunity to make up for any bad shots.
Compact hole #6
Par 3 - 100 m
The sixth hole is a short par 3, possibly the shortest on the compact course. It's straight with a wide fairway. There's only one bunker to protect it. On the right, there's an out-of-bounds marked by a barrier, and at the back of the green, there's rough.
Tip:
All you need to do is know the correct distance for your own irons to ensure a good tee shot to place it on the relatively accessible green. Precision and rhythm will be key
Compact hole #7
Par 3 - 105 m
It features the same characteristics as the previous hole but with a water hazard that ends between the tee box and the green.
Tip:
Place confidence in your distance control and your ability to navigate across.
Compact hole #8
Par 4 - 265 m
This is a Par 4 with a narrow fairway. The green, lacking depth but wide and defended by a bunker, makes flag positions equally strategic. The rough on both sides forces the player to stay straight.
Tip:
For the big hitters, be sure not to drive too long as it could end up in the water present on the right side of the green. On the left, the ball could also fall into a water hazard clinging to the green and its collar.
Keep a good iron shot to secure the middle of the fairway and calmly approach the green. If there's a sense of confidence, it's possible to attack the green directly.
Compact hole #9
Par 3 - 110 m
This is a 110m par 3 with a fairway that forms a right-to-left dog leg, including a bunker in its center. A water hazard runs along the left side of the par, ending just in front of the green. Thus, for a green attack, one must go directly over the water.
Tip:
Stay clear-headed and focused up to the tee shot of this final hole. The challenge is to keep the ball on a relatively small green. But with concentration, you'll finish without adrenaline and on a good note.
Simple Golf Etiquette Rules:
ETIQUETTE
Golf etiquette is a fundamental pillar in ensuring everyone enjoys the game. Indeed, as you know, it is a sport that takes place almost entirely without the presence of a referee, with only the Marshall moving around the field. It is therefore obvious that there must be some basic rules to ensure good conduct of the game, all with the goal of making sure everyone enjoys playing.
Playing with golfers who know the basic etiquette of golf is always more enjoyable! With the season approaching, here's a little reminder of the basic principles that are easy to apply to maintain good etiquette on the course and thus ensure all players enjoy the game!
